Camp Outline

Week 1: INTRODUCTIONS

• Introductions
• Theater games
• Introducing the idea of Shakespeare and his plays
• Getting to know what theater's all about

Week 2: THE PLAY and SCENE SUMMARIES

• Introducing the play!
• Playing games with lines from the play
• Learning about the characters and the setting
• Learning about the myths behind the play
• Who's who and what's what in each scene
• Scene snapshots

Week 3: TEXT WORK and CHOOSING CHARACTERS

• Words, words, words!
• Vocabulary lessons
• Sculpture garden, text lay-ups
• Choosing which characters you'd like to play
• Casting and line sizing

Week 4: REHEARSALS COMMENCE

•  Blocking: specific movements to go with words
• Getting on our feet
• Movement games
• Text exercises using your character's lines!

Week 5: REHEARSALS CONTINUE

•  Production committees work out costumes, set, lights, props
• Scenes "worked" and blocking continues
• Getting to know your character!

Week 6: REHEARSALS AND SHOW

• Props, costumes, lights are used in runs
• Tech, dress, PERFORMANCE ON AUGUST 12
• Post-show cast party
• De-briefing: What did we learn?
